If You Build It, They Will Come

To acquaint you with our local WordPress community here in Santa Clarita, here are some quick facts:

• Our Community “officially” launched in 2017, inheriting a group that talked technology and WordPress at the Old Town Newhall branch of the Santa Clarita Public Library;
• Santa Clarita is almost 30 miles north of Downtown Los Angeles and is the third-largest city in Los Angeles County; and
• Our first WordCamp Santa Clarita took place during Spring Break 2019, with a theme celebrating the area’s founding role in the Western genre on Film and Television. We focused on Santa Clarita’s Race Car and Amusement Park histories at subsequent WordPress Events.

Boldly going where no (WordCamp) has gone before

Local events offer you the same learning, networking, and inspiration of a Flagship event, but on a smaller, more personal scale. Our WordCamp grew in attendance and energy each of its first three editions, and we’re excited to return and break new ground like:

• WordCamp Santa Clarita ’19 was the first event south of San Francisco and north of Los Angeles since 2015 (WordCamp Ventura);
• Hosted two WordPress Coffee Meetups onsite at WordCamp US (San Diego, Portland) with GreenGeeks Web Hosting;
• Our WordPress Events have spotlighted 87 speakers at three WordCamps, an additional 15 at Meetups (excluding shared Mega Meetups), and hosted the first WordCamp to feature a dedicated accessibility track with 15 speakers; and
• Our members have presented at flagship WordCamps (US, Asia), WordPress events (Big Orange Heart, WordPress Accessibility Day, local/regional WordCamps (Canada, San José), and more.
