Volunteers are a large part of what makes WordCamp a rewarding and unique experience. It’s a great way to give back to the WordPress local community and also to get involved!
Join our Crew for this Mission!
Benefits of being a volunteer include:
- Being an essential part of the running of a successful WordCamp!
- Have the opportunity to meet WordPress Speakers from all over the world;
- Helping to support the local WordPress community;
- Meet WordPress users and professionals from Southern California and beyond; and
- WordCamps are a great way to network, make new friends, and meet others excited about learning and growing in WordPress.
Tasks that you may find yourself doing include:
- Registration and Swag Tables – name badges and answering questions, handing out goodies to attendees;
- Presentation Room – Introducing speakers as an Emcee, helping with microphones during Q&A sessions;
- Floaters – roaming and monitoring the lobby, helping out at lunchtime, and the second-floor hallway and break room;
- Videography and photography;
- Helping speakers with anything they need;
- Support at the Help Desk/Happiness Bar;
- Setup, tear down, and general tidiness;
- Wayfinding – directions at the venue and in the parking lot; and
- Adhere to WordCamp Code of Conduct
Important Note
It is likely you WILL NOT be able to attend all speaker sessions (unless supporting speakers in specific sessions) or workshops on Friday or Saturday.
While you will be at WordCamp, volunteering is not free admission to WordCamp… You will be provided with free admission BUT you’re expected to work! Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the WordPress community by ensuring the event runs smoothly and that attendees enjoy their experience.
That said, if there is a specific talk you want to see, we might be able to make it happen, so be sure to speak up when we create the volunteer schedule.
