Why Santa Clarita?

Each year we celebrate all things WordPress, the Santa Clarita Valley, home of an enthusiastic and passionate community, ready to contribute. With a network of official WordPress Meetups in northern Los Angeles County from Bakersfield, Palmdale, San Fernando, West Hills, as far away as Santa Barbara, covering topics on Accessibility, Gutenberg and Full Site Editing, WooCommerce, User Experience, and Design, Marketing, Development, Business, as well as general topics to empower our community to do great things.

Our theme this year highlights the cultural landmark Six Flags Magic Mountain. According to Santa Clarita Valley lore, executives of Sea World were looking for a place in Los Angeles County to build a new theme park. Sea World and a local real estate firm formed a partnership and began to build a 200-acre amusement park at the western edge of a new town called Valencia. Seventy acres would be used for the park itself — rides, theaters, games, food, landscaping, parking, and more. With an annual attendance of 1 million back in 1971 to roughly 3.5 million today, Magic Mountian remains the ‘king of the coasters.’

Open to All

One of the foundations of our event is a dedicated track focused on reflecting topics of importance to our WordPress Community and a commitment to helping them learn and grow. We’ll take a deep dive into Accessibility for WordPress, provide thought-provoking discussion and tools to ensure an open and inclusive experience for everyone in the projects we touch.
